You will be picked up from your hotel in Pune by a cab and drive to Ajanta Caves, which are about 330 km away and take around 7 hours to reach
On the way, you can stop for breakfast and lunch at your convenience. You can also enjoy the scenic views of the Western Ghats and the Deccan Plateau.
You will reach Ajanta Caves by afternoon and explore the 29 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments dating from the 2nd century BCE to the 6th century CE2 These caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and showcase some of the finest examples of ancient Indian art, especially the mural paintings depicting the life of Buddha and various Jataka stories
You can spend about 3 to 4 hours at the caves and admire the architecture, sculpture, and paintings of these caves. You can also hire a guide or an audio guide to learn more about the history and significance of these caves.
After visiting the caves, you will drive to Aurangabad, which is about 100 km away and takes around 2 hours to reach
You will check-in to your hotel in Aurangabad and relax for the evening. You can have dinner at your hotel or explore the local cuisine at nearby restaurants.

You will have an early breakfast at your hotel and check-out by 8 am. You will then drive to Ellora Caves, which are about 30 km away and take around 45 minutes to reach.
Ellora Caves are another UNESCO World Heritage Site and consist of 34 rock-cut temples and monasteries belonging to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. These caves were carved between the 6th and 10th centuries CE and reflect the religious harmony and cultural diversity of ancient India
You will start with the Hindu group of caves (caves 13 to 29), which include the magnificent Kailasa Temple (cave 16), the largest monolithic rock structure in the world. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is carved out of a single rock with elaborate sculptures and paintings. You will also see other caves dedicated to various Hindu deities and mythologies.
Next, you will visit the Buddhist group of caves (caves 1 to 12), which include chaityas (prayer halls) and viharas (monasteries) with impressive Buddha statues and carvings. You will also see some mural paintings that depict scenes from Buddhist literature.
Finally, you will visit the Jain group of caves (caves 30 to 34), which are known for their exquisite sculptures and paintings of Jain Tirthankaras (spiritual teachers) and deities. You will also see some fine examples of Jain architecture and iconography.
You can spend about 4 to 5 hours at Ellora Caves and explore them at your own pace. You can also hire a guide or an audio guide to enhance your experience.
After visiting Ellora Caves, you will drive back to Pune, which is about 260 km away and takes around 5 hours to reach.
